Julia Firlit Buesser is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse specializing in urology with extensive experience caring for patients across inpatient, outpatient, and surgical settings. She is committed to delivering comprehensive, patient centered urologic care and strongly believes in the importance of education and shared decision making.

Ms. Buesser earned her nursing degree from Columbia University School of Nursing in New York City. She brings more than five years of critical care experience, including work in the Emergency Department, which helped shape her calm, thorough approach to complex medical conditions. After returning to Chicago in 2008, she transitioned into urology, where she completed specialized training in urodynamics and worked as a perioperative nurse in a urology focused surgical center.

Ms. Buesser later served as Director of Nursing for a large urology group, where she helped develop an Advanced Prostate Cancer Center and led a Clinical Studies Division focused on outcomes in advanced prostate cancer care. In 2014, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago, completing advanced training in both primary care and urology. During this time, she trained under leaders in urologic oncology and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.

She has also worked as a Clinical Nurse Educator specializing in advanced prostate cancer and as a Urology Nurse Practitioner at the Hines VA, where she treated a wide range of urologic conditions and performed and interpreted urodynamic studies.

Ms. Buesser joined UroPartners in 2016 as a Urology Nurse Practitioner with Urology Specialists of Lake County. She currently provides care in both inpatient and outpatient settings and serves as a surgical first assist, working closely with physicians, including collaboration with Dr. Nejd Alsikafi. She is board certified as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, an active member of the American Urological Association, and participates in clinical research.

Ms. Buesser is dedicated to helping patients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their care. By combining advanced clinical training with a strong focus on education and collaboration, she strives to deliver thoughtful, coordinated urologic care tailored to each patient’s needs.

Ms. Buesser resides in Forest Park, Illinois, with her husband and two children.
